Host Family Recruitment and Liaison Officer

An opportunity has arisen to join the team at Lila as an Host Family Recruitment and Liaison Officer in the Accommodation Department.

Salary: Circa £19K gross per annum dependent upon experience /qualifications
Start Date: Immediate start
Holidays: 29 paid incl bank and birthday holiday. Some unpaid may be granted

Candidates must have:
-Access to car as driving to regular host visits required

Essential Skills & experience:
-Proven experience & ability to work with Microsoft office packages including outlook, word, excel and databases
- Proven administrative experience of at least two years
-Ability to multitask/work in a busy, fast paced environment
-Excellent command of the English Language, both written and verbal
-Strong people skills, both customer facing and pastoral

Desirable skills & experience
Experience of working in the language school industry
Experience of working with people in a pastoral capacity

  • To recruit new hosts through advertising, networking events, incentivising existing hosts to refer
  • To retain existing hosts by keeping in touch via newsletters and using digital and social media tools
  • To process accommodation requests and match students up with appropriate host/accommodation. To inform hosts/students of arrangements re accommodation, arrival/departure times, particulars of accommodation, payment etc
  • To monitor situation where students are staying with families/hosts, maintaining good working relationship with hosts/accommodation providers
  • To utilise administration system (CLASS) to maintain accommodation data and run reports as necessary
  • To deal with welfare issues relating to students’ accommodation and to train in safeguarding
  • To arrange appointments for initial/repeat visits, in line with British Council criteria, as necessary and process information relating to these visits
  • Ensure students’ contact address details (in UK) are correct and up to date
  • To process payments for accommodation providers and ensure students pay for accommodation according to pay schedule
  • To ensure standards are maintained in line with LILA* policies and industry best practice (and according to British Council)
  • To arrange airport transfers with designated company for students as necessary and to inform students/airport transfer company of details
  • Other general office or administrative duties on an ad hoc basis
  • To act as the Designated Officer in relation to welfare and junior safeguarding
  • To review safeguarding policies and renew as appropriate
  • To attend training related to safeguarding as deemed appropriate
  • To implement policies and procedures to ensure safeguarding duties are met
  • To liaise with relevant health and safety bodies to ensure standards are met
  • To be accessible to juniors and young adults and staff involved in junior programmes, including host families for advice and guidance
  • To act as a listening adult for adult students and direct to appropriate staff member for assistance with any problems they may have
