Paul Corcoran has been named Creative Industries Entrepreneur of the Year

Paul Corcoran, managing director of Agent Marketing, has been named Creative Industries Entrepreneur of the Year at the 2017 NatWest Great British Entrepreneur Awards. Paul beat off strong competition to win the award with over 1,300 entries from business people across the region.

Huyton born Paul has previously been named Guardian Sustainable Business Leader of the Year and was also named in the 2017 BIMA top 100 most influential people in British digital and media industries.

Paul has been at the helm of Agent, a full-service marketing agency, since it was established in 2006. The company is based in the Baltic Triangle and was the first tenant of Baltic Creative, home to the fastest growing creative and digital community in the country. The last twelve months has seen Agent secure its biggest contracts to date, expanding into new areas including transport and regeneration. Agent has also increased its headcount to 17 with new roles across all four of its business departments; strategy, digital, communications and creative.

Alongside his work with Agent, Paul also sits on a number of boards including Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse, Rare Studio and The Big Trust. Paul has also recently been appointed to the Board of the Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) as well as being confirmed as co-chair of the LEP’s digital and creative advisory board, helping to cultivate the digital and creative industry in Liverpool.

Paul’s commitment to Liverpool City Region led him to set up Agent Academy CIC, a social enterprise dedicated to helping young people find employment in the digital and creative sector through an industry-led programme. To date, Agent Academy has generated over £1 million worth of salaries across Liverpool City Region.

Now in its fifth year, the NatWest Great British Entrepreneur Awards has celebrated some amazing entrepreneurs over the years, many of whom are now household names. Past winners include David Buttress of Just Eat, Julie Deane of The Cambridge Satchel Company, James Watt of BrewDog and Alexander Solomou of TheLADBible Group.

Speaking after being announced as the winner, Paul said:

“The NatWest Great British Entrepreneur Awards celebrate the very best of British business and I am honoured just to have been nominated, let alone to have won. It was an incredibly special evening. I’m so happy and proud to be bringing this award home to Liverpool.

“This award completes what has been an incredible 2017 for Agent. During the last twelve months, we’ve welcomed new team members, taken on more clients across different industries and continued to grow and develop as a result.”
