Pay for a Day to Help Raise Vital Funds

Anniversary and birthday celebrations could help provide treasured memories for poorly children and their families in Liverpool, thanks to a new scheme at Zoe’s Place.

A new ‘Pay for a Day’ project has been launched to raise vital funds for the baby hospice – allowing it to continue providing its much-needed service in the city.

Based in Yew Tree Lane, Zoe’s Place is Liverpool’s only dedicated facility for babies and young children up to the age of five. It provides palliative, respite and bereavement care for children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.
Almost wholly self funding, the hospice is faced with an ongoing challenge of ensuring it has enough income to provide baseline nursing and ancillary staff, allowing it to open its doors 24/7, 365 days a year.

To help with this challenge, charity officials are appealing for big-hearted individuals in the city to give as much as they can either through its new ‘Pay for a Day’ scheme or by simply helping with the day to day running costs. For example £30 will cover the cost of care for a child for an hour and £700 to pay for a cot for the day.

Whether it’s a one-off donation from an individual, family or friends clubbing together or staff fundraising at work through challenges and events, all money raised will go a long way to covering the £1.6 million annual running costs.
Carol Kirkham, Fundraising Manager at the hospice, said: “Any donation is hugely valuable to Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice.

“People who take part in the ‘Pay for a Day’ scheme can even choose a unique day if they wish, say for a special birthday, anniversary or celebrating the memory of a loved one. It is a fantastic way to honour that day and also help raise much needed funds for an incredible charity.”

Zoe’s Place will also acknowledge the support of an individual or group with a certificate and letter of thanks, as well as a personal invitation to the hospice.

There will also be online recognition of the generous contribution through its social media channels as well as recording each and every sponsor in the charity’s yearly calendar.

Carol added: “We know that people in Liverpool are incredibly generous and support us in any way that they can. By supporting us in any way you will know that you have helped immensely with the care that is required and help make memories for the little lives that we care for here at Zoe’s Place.”
