Festive family fun at National Museums Liverpool starts in a big way

Festive family fun at National Museums Liverpool starts in a big way with the return of Blackler’s Santa at the Museum of Liverpool on Tuesday 19 November (until 8 January 2020).

A firm favourite for generations of Liverpool children, the 18 ft Santa figure was originally part of the famous grotto experience at Blackler’s Department Store, a must-see for many local families from 1957 until the store closed in 1988.
Since arriving into National Museums Liverpool’s collection he continues to delight visitors as he towers over the Museum of Liverpool’s Atrium during the festive period, welcoming families in from the cold.

Recently winning a public vote in the Kids in Museums’ Family Friendly Awards, Museum of Liverpool is packed with activities throughout the Christmas period, which is a great time for visiting any one of National Museums Liverpool’s venues. From superb exhibitions and festive-themed events, to cafés well-stocked with treats and shops full of unique gift ideas, a visit to a museum or gallery is a must this Christmas.
