Fri, September 23rd, 2016

A new photo competition has launched in Liverpool, and everyone is invited.

A new photo competition has launched in Liverpool as part of a city-wide walking and cycling initiative, and absolutely everyone is invited to get involved and win a year’s free subscription to Citybike.

To enter the competition, all you have to do is take a photo of Liverpool that can’t be seen from the inside of a car, and post it on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook with the #WhereILiverpool hashtag.

The competition is part of The 20 Effect, a campaign designed to support walking and cycling across the city. Over the past few months, The 20 Effect team have been encouraging everyone living near Liverpool city centre to embrace the city’s streets, parks and public spaces by walking and cycling more to get from A to B.

On the 30th of September, The 20 Effect team will put together a shortlist of three photos, and invite everybody to vote on Twitter for their favourite. The winner will receive a year’s free subscription to Citybike, an Independent Liverpool card, and their winning photo printed and framed. Two runners up will receive an Independent Liverpool card and a framed photo.

Councillor Malcolm Kennedy, Liverpool City Council cabinet member for regeneration and transport, said:
“Citybike is all about encouraging people to experience our beautiful city by bike and being able to seeing places you wouldn’t usually see. There’s just so much of our city that can’t be seen from the inside of a car, and this is a brilliant way for people to discover and celebrate that aspect of Liverpool.

“We’re looking forward to seeing the photos that people take, and getting the chance to see the city through someone else’s eyes. The Citybike team want to encourage everyone to get out there, get snapping, and telling the world that ‘this is our city, and it’s #WhereILiverpool.”

The 20 Effect is a campaign by Liverpool City Council, launched to encourage more people to switch to walking and cycling as their primary means of transport for short trips around the city. Throughout the competition, The 20 Effect team will be sharing their favourite photos from each day.

To keep up with the competition, be sure to follow The 20 Effect on Twitter at @The20Effect. You can also find them on Instagram and Facebook.
