C.A.L.M - The Campaign Against Living Miserably
CALM is a campaign targeted at young men aged 15-35 on Merseyside. Many of us can relate to or know of young men who have struggled with life, be it work related stress, depression, a relationship breakdown or something else similar. The biggest killer of this group is suicide; on Merseyside we lose between 30 - 50 young men every year; in the UK we lose 3 young men every day.
We believe that to change this, we need to create a social shift; where young men do not feel ashamed to ask for help or support. We need to destroy the strong-silent-type myth.
Whilst we often see media coverage making men aged 15 -35 look like the source of all problems, we know thousands of young men work hard every day across Merseyside, making regular, creative and positive contributions to their communities and society in general.
CALM works on-the-ground, promoting our free & confidential helpline and great, male-friendly website to local young men. Key to CALM's success is our emphasis on building a credible brand that our audience respects and sees partnering with local nightclubs, music festivals, sports clubs etc. We help hundreds of young men every year and celebrate our 10th Anniversary in 2010 - why not celebrate with us?
If you're a company whose customers are young men, or you employ a lot of them, or you just like the sound of what we do, we'd love to partner with you. Email: simonhowes@thecalmzone.net

Claire House
Claire House is a Children's Hospice that provides respite, palliative and end of life care to children 0 - 23 years (at no cost to their families). We understand the importance of providing quality of life to both our children and their families. We take children from Merseyside, Cheshire, the Wirral and the Isle of Man.
To enable families a choice in where their child receives care, and indeed to enable us to reach those who need our services the most, we also offer a 'Hospice to Home' service on the Wirral. Statistics have shown 42% of the children who access this service come from Merseyside. As a consequence we are proud to be expanding this service and we are opening an office in Liverpool.
We require £ 2.4 million to sustain Claire House per annum and our services are totally dependent upon voluntary income. It is only with such generous support we are able to meet these costs and provide a life line for families. We would like to take this opportunity to invite you all to come and offer your support by joining in with our 10th birthday celebrations in 2009. For more information please visit www.claire-house.org.uk or call Helen on 0151 343 0883.
Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology
Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology is the leading cancer treatment centre for the Merseyside and Cheshire region. Every year more than 7,000 new patients from this area are diagnosed with cancer and referred to our doctors for treatment. We deliver treatment for our patients through our radiotherapy and chemotherapy services, we use state-of-the-art imaging services to detect and plan treatment, and together with supportive care from nursing and health professionals we improve the lives of people affected by cancer and support their families.
Clatterbridge is the only charity that raises funds to directly benefit the hospitals patients and their families. The money we raise helps us to make considerable advances to the facilities we are able to offer patients, along with a level of care and support that goes above and beyond the scope of the NHS.

COMPASS Counselling
Counselling on Merseyside Pastoral and Supporting Service
COMPASS is a Merseyside based charity that has been providing free counselling for anyone over the age of 18 for over 30 years. All COMPASS counsellors work to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy's Ethical Framework for Good Practice.
COMPASS has over 27 years experience providing a counselling service to staff and managers of statutory, voluntary and commercial organisations in the region. Some staff find it difficult to discuss their problems with managers or colleagues, it may be that colleagues are part of the problem. Consequently, many staff struggle alone. Their work performance is impaired and their mental and physical health suffers. There are no retainer fees. You only pay for the counselling that is arranged.
COMPASS also delivers training, both for practising counsellors and for those wishing to train as counsellors. The Intermediate Certificate in Introduction to Counselling Concepts, validated by the AQA(Assessment and Qualifications Alliance) is a 30 hour assessed course, but to maintain the quality of our training and for those who wish to progress to a higher level, COMPASS has expanded the course to 36 hours training by including "A First look at Loss and Grief" as an additional module. This course runs up to 6 times a year both as a day time and as an evening course.
In addition COMPASS offers regular one or two day courses on a variety of topics relevant to practising counsellors or those whose work involves caring/listening.

Zoe's Place
Zöe's Place is the only Baby Hospice in the UK. The West Derby based Hospice provides 24 hour one-to-one respite and palliative nursing care for infants aged 0-5 with life threatening or life limiting conditions. The Hospice accommodates up to 6 infants at any one time, although we currently have 48 babies on our books in Liverpool.
The Hospice is currently fundraising to re-vamp and extend the existing facility. As such, all funds are currently being focussed towards this purpose. The new facility would vastly improve the facilities that we would be able to offer, increasing the number of families that we would be able to assist and enhancing our care environment.
Zöe's Place employs a specialist Play Leader who works in tandem with our Physiotherapist to ensure that every aspect of the child's development is catered for.
The respite care provided at Zöe's Place is open to babies from all over the country and has proved invaluable to so many of our families' over the 13 years of our existence. We do not receive any central government or NHS funding. Our running costs of £700,000 per annum must be raised purely through public donations.
