Employment Law Issues In the World of Social Media

Employment Law Issues In the World of Social Media

Don't be a twit when you tweet...

All employees are spokespeople for your company and social media can be a free and positive way to enhance your brand and improve employee engagement. However, while expecting the best results, you also need to prepare for the worst.

Recently, bored Domino’s employees not only filmed themselves breaking hygiene codes in the kitchens, but they also shared their exploits via YouTube. This quickly went viral and spread across all social networking sites, resulting in a messy clean up process to gain consumer trust again and get their brand back to its former glory.
Incidents like the example above illustrate why social media training and policies should be the top of your priority list. No matter what sector, size or personality of your company, social media can cause a headache if not managed appropriately.

If a social media disaster crops up tomorrow, would you have the correct policies and procedures in place to manage the situation?

Hill Dickinson’s expert employment team will be running a series of complimentary training events throughout April, covering a wealth of legal issues relating to social media, such as:

      • discrimination;
      • bullying and harassment;
      • protecting business reputation;
      • protecting confidential information;
      • key legal cases; and
      • the practical steps you should be taking.

Ph.Creative will also be presenting at the seminars and giving businesses tips on how to generate more interest and revenue from social media.
