Construction and Development Lunch
Chaired by John Sutcliffe, the third lunch of 2010 takes place at the Crowne Plaza Commencing at 11.00am, the seminar comprises three workshop sessions specifically tailored for the construction sector followed by a construction sector only networking lunch.

11.15am Workshop One-Managing Asbestos Mark Rhodes UK Environmental & Asbestos Solutions Ltd
Asbestos is responsible for around 4000 work related deaths in the UK, each year. Asbestos regulations are enforced by the Field Operations Directorate (FOD), Hazardous Installations Directorate (HID) and also Offshore Division (OSD). Mark will help you understand your responsibilities and how to protect yourself and others.
11.30am Workshop Two- Merseyside Fire and Rescue ServiceDetailing a brief overview of the Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service revised procedure for gathering site specific risk information, and the rationale behind this approach. MFRS will also highlight how the construction sector can help in the process.
11.45am Workshop Three- Legal Update from Hill Dickinson
Stephen Barnfield will be presenting a Construction Industry Health and Safety update. He will cover the impact of recent case law on the approach to defending HSE fatal accident prosecutions. Stephen will also tell us about the effect and progress of the Corporate Manslaughter and Homicide Act 2007 and its impact on the Construction industry

1.00pm After lunch Brendan Kenny from Builderscrap- Brendon will be speaking about how BuilderScrap can benefit construction projects by enhancing their resource efficiency whilst also building connections within the local community. He will also describe how BuilderScrap is benefiting all levels and members of the construction supply chain through its new membership system. Brendon will explain how BuilderScrap can help to reduce the carbon footprint of the construction industry and measure and report these savings.
