Funding Helps British Film Travel The World

'Of Time And The City', created by renowned director, Terence Davies has been described as both a love song and a eulogy to Liverpool. Produced by local company, Hurricane Films and commissioned initially for Capital of Culture, the film is winning global audiences and accolades.

Funding from EU ERDF Funding accessed through Liverpool Chamber of Commerce, designed to grow international trade on Merseyside, enabled the film's Producer, Sol Papadopoulos to attend the Berlin Film Festival and Cannes Film Festival. He explained: "This opportunity means our films are in the market place. We met financers and distributors who we are keen to meet and work with on their next project."

Sol also attended a training session on through the UKTI's Passport to Export scheme, he said: "It was really useful, it opened my eyes to new opportunities."

The film has been invited to over 60 film festivals around the world and the funding has helped Sol has just retuned from New York Film Critics Awards where Of Time & the City won the best documentary film

He continued: "This was a successful trip for us, in the project has interest in backers from a major studio. We walked in to the awards in front of George Clooney and Meryl Streep. It was amazing that this film from Liverpool getting an award in front of all the Hollywood A-listers. During our thank you speech we had the opportunity to say that we were in the second best city in the world!"

"Attending these events is invaluable in building relationships, making contact with sales agents and distributors across the states. We couldn't have gone if we hadn't had this support."
