Should Liverpool Have An Elected Mayor?

Shadow Home Secretary Chris Grayling MP thinks Liverpool should have an elected mayor. He said: "On issues such as regeneration, an elected mayor would have the strength of personality and political remit to ensure that a vision for the city was cohesively pursued."

Is he right? Or would it put too much power into an individuals hands?
