We asked some of our local operators what steps they are taking as more passengers gradually return to the network.

Andy Heath, Managing Director at Merseyrail, reinforced those messages: “As more people are returning to the Merseyrail network as national lockdown restrictions have been eased further, this is a good opportunity to explain the steps we are taking to protect both our passengers and our staff. We are currently operating a 20-minute service across the majority of our network, and anyone travelling with us can do so with confidence by following the clear travel advice provided on our website and at our stations. I’d particularly like to remind passengers that it is mandatory to wear a face covering on public transport unless they are exempt. Throughout the pandemic we have carried out enhanced cleaning on our trains and at our stations – from using specialist anti-microbial cleaning products to overnight deep cleans and additional quality assurance spot checks. Social distancing signage is also in place on our floors, escalators and lifts to aid in keeping our passengers at a safe distance were possible.” You can access further information on Merseyrail services https://www.merseyrail.org/plan-your-journey/covid-19-information.aspx
