We are delighted to announce our first School Business Network of 2024, in partnership with Liverpool City Council. This event will expand on discussions that will take place during the LSIP conference, and will focus on how schools and businesses can work in partnership to support and inspire future talent in our city region.

At Liverpool Chamber, we believe that access to business and real world opportunities is key to developing the talented young people in our City Region. However, we know from our members and those who attended the previous events of the network that there is often a ‘disconnect’ between business and education.

This disconnect leaves students with less opportunities to discover the pathways into employment and the different routes and sectors which are available to them. It is for this reason that we have created the School Business Network to bridge the gap and facilitate collaboration.

What is LSIPs?

The Department for Education introduced the local skills improvement plans (LSIPs) to set out actionable priorities that employers, providers and other stakeholders in the local area can support.

The research as a result of LSIP indicates what areas learners can gain skills in to increase their prospects of entering the workplace once they have completed their education.

The School Business Network will use LSIP research to encourage businesses and schools to partner together to inspire students to pursue careers in sectors were skills are required. This includes sectors such as construction, maritime, Legal, Finance, and manufacturing.

If you would also like to attend the LSIP conference (which will take place before the School Business Network, please click here if you are a business, and here if you are an education institute).

What is the School Business Network?

The School Business Network enables business and education representatives to connect directly with each other to stimulate mutual opportunities, discuss challenges and share insight and intelligence.

The network exists to complement the existing networks, initiatives and programmes within and across the city region so that businesses have an accessible route to engage with the creators of the city region’s future talent pool.

How will I benefit from attending?

As a business, you will get the chance to highlight the programmes/ways in which you can engage with schools and impact students. As a school, you will get the chance to highlight the employability needs of your students, and how business can better integrate into the work taking place.

Registration will begin from 3pm with a 3:30pm start.
