Stella Vig, National Clinical Director for Elective Care NHS England, recently visited LUHFT to hear about the significant progress that has been made in delivering elective recovery and theatre productivity improvements during the last two years. Many of these improvements are thanks to charitable donations including the opening of the Wonderful Archie's Place Sensory suites, and the purchase of a pioneering Da Vinci Single Port surgical robot.
The Trust has seen a 15% increase in patients through our theatres in the first four months of this year compared to last year, which benefited 1,384 patients. Plus, we launched an initiative to ensure patients arrive ready for their surgery on time, which reduced the delays we experience in getting patients to theatre.
After learning about the range of changes we’ve made, Stella visited Theatres and thanked teams for their hard work to enhance patient experience in our theatres, improve outcomes and reduce patient waiting times.
