Carroll Build has embarked on programme of renovations for One Vision Housing

Merseyside-based Carroll Build has embarked on an innovative programme of renovations to enhance One Vision Housing’s (OVH) Independent Living service.

Carroll Group is transforming derelict community centres in Sefton into bespoke adapted homes for individuals or families who require assistance to live independently.

OVH acquired 12 community centres when it formed in 2006 as part of the stock transfer from Sefton Council. Some of these community centres are still occupied by local community groups, however, ones that are unused have been earmarked for refurbishment projects; providing OVH with opportunities to create new homes while regenerating the local area.

The first conversion project, Brownmoor Community Centre in Crosby, was recently completed.
It is extremely spacious, with substantial aids and adaptations throughout, including widened doorways internally and externally, a spacious wet room and ramp access.

Carroll Build carried out a complete strip-out of the property, creating a new accessible kitchen and wet room and two new bedrooms.

Terry Carroll, Managing Director of Carroll Build, said: “We embarked on these regeneration projects to expand our construction offering, while giving something back to the community.
“These sort of regeneration schemes are close to our heart as we try to ensure that all the work we carry out has a positive effect on the local community.
“I look forward to continuing to work with One Vision Housing on these projects in the future.”

Carroll Build also recently delivered the complete renovation of a large Victorian terraced property for OVH’s Independent Living Service.

The property on Balliol Road in Bootle had been vacant since 2010, equating to a void loss of approximately £35,000.

Carroll Build delivered six en-suite units of accommodation and shared communal areas specifically for adults who have learning disabilities and/or enduing mental health needs, who require long-term supported accommodation to live independently.

The property will be staffed 24 hours, 7 days per week by staff from local charity, Expect, who have worked closely with Carroll Build on this project.
