R Charity’s ‘Kilimanjaro – Roof of Africa’ Challenge

Wed, January 3rd, 2018

21st September 2018 – 11 days

At 5,895m Kilimanjaro offers one of the most physically challenging and culturally rewarding adventures available to the intrepid fundraiser.

Do you want to raise money for charity or simply need to test yourself? Then this is the ideal challenge for you!

The Machame route (also referred to as the "Whiskey route") is probably the most beautiful route to Uhuru Peak, the name given to the summit of Kilimanjaro. It is suited to all levels of adventurous trekker, rewarding their intrepid nature with scenic splendour, ranging from the late afternoon sunsets at Shira camp, to the misty revelations of the summit’s glaciers and magnificent views of the great Barranco Wall. This is also the best route for acclimatization, so has the best success rate of all the routes.

Big World Treks use experienced expedition leaders and paramedics who have summated Kilimanjaro several times and are on first name terms with many of the local guides. Together they will be working as a team to support you every step of the way. Not just on the trek itself, but also with advice on training and preparation for your adventure of a life time. Watch their September 2012 expedition on this video link http://youtu.be/tsdQgu1idoA for a real taste of what you could be experiencing.
