Mersey Ferries is set to host a day of special River Explorer Cruises

The youngest Queen in the Cunard fleet, MS Queen Elizabeth is set to receive a royal welcome when it docks at Liverpool Cruise Terminal on Monday 23 July, with passengers on board the Mersey Ferries benefitting from a truly unique view of the vessel thanks to a special day of River Explorer Cruises.

The unique cruises will give passengers a chance to view the glorious MS Queen Elizabeth from the deck of a Mersey Ferry. A Blue Badge Guide will also offer insight to the famous waterfront and Cunard vessel on the 12pm, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm cruises.

Passengers will get an up-close viewpoint of the 294m-long vessel, launched in 2010 and renovated in 2014, which boasts three main restaurants, a two-storey library with over 6,000 books, a casino and a luxury spa and fitness centre. More than 1,003 crew members take care of the 2,000 passengers onboard.

Views of some of Liverpool’s most recognisable landmarks, including the awe-inspiring UNESCO World Heritage waterfront can also be seen as part of the sailing.

Gary Evans from Mersey Ferries said: “The River Explorer Cruises are widely known as one of Liverpool’s most iconic days out and a ‘must-do’ experience for those with an interest in maritime history.

“However, when occasions such as this come around, a trip on the ferry offers a completely unique experience. Whether young or old, our passengers always enjoy the chance to feel like they’re part of a notable event and the opportunity to sit back and appreciate the true beauty of this visiting ship.

“When the Cunard MS Queen Victoria visited the city in May, we also offered special River Explorer viewing cruises and they were extremely popular with residents and tourists in the city, so we’re confident the cruises for the MS Queen Elizabeth will go down just as well.”

The River Explorer Cruise also allows passengers the opportunity to enjoy a full day of activity, with free access to the remarkable U-boat Story at Woodside and the chance to visit the interactive Spaceport attraction in Seacombe; which is currently hosting the incredibly popular “Sci-Fi Icons” exhibition.

A Family River Explorer Ticket is priced at only £25 and is available for two adults and up to three children (ages five to 15). The offer must be purchased online at least one day before a visit. Purchased on the day, adult tickets for the River Explorer Cruise are priced at £10. For more information or to book tickets, call the Mersey Ferries ticket office on 0151 330 1003, visit any of Mersey Ferries terminals or visit the Mersey Ferries website: https://www.merseyferries.co.uk/cruises/river-explorer-cruise

River Explorer Cruises depart hourly sailing between Liverpool and the Wirral peninsula. A return ticket allows you to break your journey at any of the three ferry terminals - Liverpool Pier Head, Seacombe or Woodside. A cruise can be combined with a visit to any of the waterfront attractions, including The U-Boat Story and Spaceport. A full schedule of upcoming cruises is listed on the Mersey Ferry website.
