Today marks another major milestone for rail customers across the North and Scotland as TransPennine Express has officially welcomed the first of its brand new Nova 2 trains, following formal acceptance from the Office of Rail and Road. This will now enable staff training to take place before the trains enter into service.

Nova 2 will run on the West Coast Main Line between Manchester International Airport and Glasgow/Edinburgh, as well as between Liverpool Lime Street and Glasgow. The first Nova 2 trains will enter into customer service during this Autumn.

The trains will operate at 125mph and have 288 seats on board. 12 of these trains will operate in the TransPennine Express fleet

Together with our partners, we are working hard to get all of our Nova fleets into service as soon as possible. By the end of this year, trains from all three fleets will be operating across the North and into Scotland providing millions of extra seats per year. Each high quality Nova train features spacious, comfortable seating, free Wi-Fi in both First and Standard Class, plug sockets and USB charging points, improved information systems and access to complimentary Exstream entertainment.
