Hugh Baird College welcomes Alcedo Care as latest Employer Stakeholder Pledge partner

Hugh Baird College, an Ofsted Outstanding provider, has welcomed Alcedo Care Group as the latest organisation to join its Employer Stakeholder Pledge, marking the beginning of a long-term partnership that will enhance the College’s Transitions Hub sensory garden and create future opportunities to support students with additional needs.

As part of the partnership, Alcedo Care will fund and install a new wildlife pond within the garden, creating a calming and inclusive environment that encourages wellbeing, mindfulness and outdoor learning. The new feature will provide students with a space to relax, connect with nature and develop sensory awareness as part of their daily learning experience.

The Transitions Hub supports young people aged 16 to 25 from across the Liverpool City Region who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and are working at Entry Level 2 and above. The Hub offers small-group learning and specialist support to help students build confidence, independence, and employability skills as they prepare for adulthood, further education, or employment.

As part of the College’s Ofsted Outstanding provision, the Transitions Hub and provision for learners with high needs is recognised for helping students “thrive and do exceptionally well through caring, diligent and exceptional planning”.

The Employer Stakeholder Pledge is one of the College’s key initiatives to strengthen links between education and industry. By joining the pledge, organisations demonstrate their commitment to developing future talent, supporting community projects and enriching the student experience through activities such as guest talks, work placements, site visits and mentoring. In return, Hugh Baird College promotes and celebrates its partners through joint marketing, events and public relations opportunities.

Sarah Collins, Director of Foundation Studies at Hugh Baird College, said:

“We are so grateful to Alcedo Care for their generosity and enthusiasm in supporting our students. Their contribution will have a lasting impact, helping us create a nurturing and stimulating space that our learners can enjoy for years to come.”

“Hugh Baird College is committed to providing exceptional experiences for every learner. Partnerships like this show how collaboration between education and employers can have a real and lasting impact, and we look forward to continuing to work closely with Alcedo Care on future projects that benefit our students and community.”

Adam Garvey, Group Events Manager at Alcedo Care Group, added:

“We’re delighted to be partnering with Hugh Baird College through the Employer Stakeholder Pledge. Supporting the development of the sensory garden reflects our company values of care, compassion and community. We’re proud to play a part in creating an environment that enhances wellbeing and brings joy to the students who use it.”
