Everton Themed IYKYH Fun Run To Be Held In Person

Everton in the Community is delighted to announce that this year’s ‘If You Know Your History’ 5k fun run will be held in person, marking an eagerly anticipated return of the charity’s in-person running events.

In partnership with race organisers BTR Liverpool, Everton in the Community will be hosting its third Everton-themed 5k fun run on Sunday 10 October 2021, where supporters will come together to take in an iconic route of Everton’s history – beginning at the heart of Everton’s badge, Prince Rupert’s Tower, and finishing inside our spiritual home, Goodison Park.

After a year of hosting events virtually, including last year’s IYKYH run, this year’s event is expected to bring Evertonians from all walks of the city and beyond together, many of whom for the first time in over a year.

This year, we are extending the event and opening the Everton Fan Zone for a post-event celebration. There will be a range of entertainment provided, including guest appearances from Everton legends and local performers. Food and drink will also be available from various food vendors.

More than ever, the charity is placing an emphasis on providing an inclusive event which invites all of our supporters to take part. Regardless of age, ability, or location – we want to see as many Blues as possible walk, jog or run their way to 5k glory.

As well as a cause for celebration, the event will also provide supporters the chance to reflect on events from the last 12 months. Whether that’s poignantly remembering the Blues we’ve lost since the start of the pandemic, to reminding ourselves of the toll the pandemic has made on our communities, none more so than our mental health, the cause which the fun run is raising funds for through the People’s Place campaign.

The People’s Place project is Everton in the Community’s fundraising campaign to build and develop a purpose-built mental health facility in L4 which will promote positive mental health and deliver support relating to suicide awareness and prevention. All funds raised from the event will be channelled into making the facility a reality.

It costs just £20 to sign up, and you can also take part in a virtual run for the same price if you’re unable to join us on the day where we’ll post your race number, medal and T-shirt so you can take part as if you were there on the day.

Fundraising Incentives

There will be a range of incentives available for runners who achieve the following in sponsorship:

Up to £20 raised per person: An EitC runner wristband
Up to £50 raised per person: A signed first team/player picture

All participants will receive a certificate marking their participation in this year’s run. Each participant will also receive a goody bag full of snacks as well as a runners medal and t-shirt after the event.

For the first time at an Everton in the Community event, fundraisers will also be able to access live fundraising totals and leaderboards via JustGiving, meaning fundraisers can track and compare their totals with other runners taking part.

We’ll be hosting live fundraising totals via Just Giving with the highest fundraiser winning a trip to Goodison Park for a home game, and presented with a squad signed shirt with their name on the back. Please note that this will only apply to fundraisers living in the UK. If the winning fundraiser is from outside the UK, they will receive a zoom call experience with one or two first team players. (Sponsorship window and live fundraising total finishes 07/11/21.)

Virtually Take Part

Live away from Liverpool or can’t make it on the day? There’s no stopping point to where in the world you can take part in this year’s If You Know Your History Fun Run, with Evertonians from across the globe able to take part in their very own IYKYH 5k route. You may not be with us in person, but you’ll still be there in spirit as you’ll receive your medal and shirt in the post for taking part.
