Investment Panel – Search for Private Sector Representatives

The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and Local Enterprise Partnership

The Liverpool City Region (LCR) Combined Authority (CA) and Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) have recently established an inward investment service across the Liverpool City Region that delivers a strategic approach to targeting investment and a city region wide account management process for enquiry handling, delivered by an investment board consisting of local authority economic development officers and a central LEP based team. To support this approach a panel will be formed to offer support and guidance in the market place. We are looking to engage four private sector representatives to join the panel to offer insight and expertise.

The Panel Composition

  • Combined Authority Portfolio Holder for Economic Development (a local authority leader)
  • Combined Authority Director of Commercial Development and Investment
  • Local Authority Chief Executive (on rotation every 12 months)
  • Department of International Trade representative
  • Private sector representatives
  • Reporting: Mark Basnett Managing Director, Liverpool City Region LEP, Investment Services lead

The Role of the Panel

  • Meet quarterly to support the Liverpool City Region’s inward investment function
  • Support and align the strategic priorities and objectives for the investment service
  • Provide strategic and commercial insights to inform good practice
  • Support the city region lead and wider team in ensuring consistency of delivery of working practices and adherence to protocols and collaboration agreements across all partners
  • Support the place marketing commissioning framework and the identified opportunities and activity for delivery via the Liverpool City Region team
  • Review and monitor performance of the Investment Services Team and provide scrutiny and challenge
  • Be ambassadors for the Liverpool City Region with some representation at key events

Private Sector Members – who you are?

  • You will have global investment knowledge paired with some local understanding
  • Hold a position in the private sector that is nationally significant
  • Have a good understanding of the investor decision making process nationally and internationally
  • Be able to manage any conflict of interest that may hamper or unduly give favourable treatment to decision making around investment
  • Be able to provide energy, insight, direction and guidance to the Investment Services lead
  • Be able to work in partnership across the private and public sectors

How to get involved

  • Please provide a short, written expression of interest based on the criteria above
  • Selection will be based on fit assessed by the CA Director of Commercial Development and Investment and the local authority chief executive member
  • The first meeting will be held June 2019, with meetings each quarter in June, September, December and March
