Capacity: The Public Services Lab is working with Public Health England (PHE) and Liverpool City Region (LCR) to hear people's personal stories about their work and wellbeing. This project is part of the wider Wealth and Wellbeing programme by PHE and LCR.

The aim of this consultation work is to gather people’s experiences relating to work and health conditions or disabilities, in their own words. These experiences will form part of a wider Liverpool City Region public health narrative about what it is like to be out of work with ill-health, or in work and coping with a health condition. The aim of the Wealth and Wellbeing project is to find ways of improving workplaces and closing the employment gap for people with health conditions or disabilities.

Who can take part?

The consultation is open to anyone aged 16 and over, who lives or works in the Liverpool City Region (including Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St. Helens, and Wirral), who has a physical or mental health condition (e.g. COPD, anxiety, etc.) or disability, and is either currently in work, or is looking for work. You do not have to have a formal diagnosis for your health condition to take part.

What will I be asked to do?

If eligible, you will be invited to take part in either a one-to-one conversation or focus group(your choice)where a trained member of staff will ask you to describe what it’s like for you to be in or out of work and living with a health condition or disability. There are no wrong answers, we want to hear your experiences in your own words. These conversations will be recorded but any identifying information will be removed, and we can refer to you by a pseudonym (fake name) if you prefer. If you decide to withdraw from the project your recording will be securely destroyed.

Is my information secure?

Yes. Information and interview recordings will be stored in a secure EU-based cloud platform and will be kept in accordance with the Data Protection Act (2018).

Informed Consent

Please read this information sheet thoroughly and make sure you understand the project before continuing. This project involves face-to-face or written interviews with the intention of publishing anonymised quotes in print, video and online. Taking part in the interview process or submitting written information implies your consent to these intentions.

Responding to the consultation does not represent an obligation. You are free to change your mind and withdraw from the project at any time without having to give a reason. Please note, we are anticipating a large number of responses and we may not be able to speak to everyone.
