Camp Out Under The Stars At Goodison In Aid Of EitC’s Homelessness Project

Everton in the Community supporters will have chance to spend the night at Goodison Park and raise vital funds for the charity’s homeless project with the return of the annual Goodison Sleepout.

Now in its fifth year, the Goodison Sleepout brings together supporters who gain a sense of what it’s like to sleep rough as they spend the night camped in the stands of the Sir Philip Carter Park Stand on a cold, breezy November night.

Taking place this year on Friday 19 November, supporters can anticipate temperatures to drop, but can also expect a heart-warming, welcoming atmosphere with all participants united in their one common goal to support vulnerable young people in the Liverpool City region. Registration fee costs £20 and we ask supporters to try and raise a minimum of £200 if possible.

In February 2020, the event raised over £33,000 for Everton in the Community’s ‘Home Is Where The Heart Is’ project which supports young people who are homeless or close to being homeless through residential and outreach support.

Previously, the event has received overwhelming backing from David Unsworth and his Under-23s squads who’ve helped raise funds and awareness at previous sleepouts, whilst in 2020, Everton Women participated in the event for the first time in support of Everton’s official charity.

Fundraising from the event to date has helped fund the purchase, development and sustainability of a four-bedroom residential house in Liverpool which provides vulnerable young people with a safe place to stay as well as tailored support from acquiring qualifications and employment to managing bills and helping rebuild family relationships.

And as the event celebrates its fifth edition, Fundraising Manger, Carena Duffy is anticipating another memorable night at Goodison Park.

“The Goodison Sleepout has always been a real humble occasion in the past, and I’ve no doubt that our loyal supporters will once again be out in numbers for another heart-warming night under the stars at The Grand Old Lady.

“The event plays even more significance taking into consideration the last 18 months, and whilst we’ve been unable to host these staple events in the Everton in the Community calendar, the support for our wonderful charity hasn’t hindered throughout that time.”

“The night is not easy, as we anticipate very cold conditions, but we can assure you, everybody is there to help get you through the night and help achieve your goal!”

*Due to anticipated severe weather conditions, the event will be exceptionally challenging, both mentally and physically. Therefore, participants must be aged 16+ and be in appropriate medical and physical condition to take part.
