CGI supports UK levelling up agenda with plans for 700 new jobs

CGI, one of the largest independent IT and business consulting services firms in the world, is continuing to increase its investment and commitment to its UK operations with plans to create over 700 new jobs across the UK over the next 12 months.

Aligned to its strategic metro market model, which is based on creating value for the communities in which CGI operates, CGI is supporting the UK Government’s “levelling-up” agenda by locating a significant majority of these new jobs in the North of England, as well as building on existing investment by growing our presence in Scotland and Wales.

New offices in Leeds, Leicester and Liverpool will be opened to service the growing number of clients in these regions and to provide investment in these local communities. CGI’s metro market model enables local teams to build trusted, in-person relationships that ensure accountability for delivering success. The focus of the metro market model is evidenced by the fact that 80% of our existing workforce in Liverpool live in the local region.

Lord Grimstone, Minister for Investment at the Departments of International Trade and Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, said:

“CGI’s expansion is a testament to the UK’s enduring strength as a global hub for investment, built on our competitive economy and cutting-edge innovation.

This investment in the North of England, Scotland and Wales will create jobs, economic growth and help level up our regions and nations of the UK.”

George Schindler, President and CEO of CGI, added:

“At CGI, we build trusted, in-person relationships with our clients through our metro market footprint around the world. Through this model, we invest in providing high-quality career opportunities and in building inclusive, economically vibrant and sustainable communities. We are deeply committed to expanding our UK presence and taking advantage of the skills and expertise in these regions.”

Tara McGeehan, President of CGI in the UK and Australia, said:

“I’m delighted to be able to announce CGI’s growing commitment to the UK through this continued investment. Our growth is fully aligned with our ambitious net zero plan and science-based targets which include achieving a 46% reduction in absolute emissions from our operations and business travel by 2026.”
