Light up a Life this Christmas with Woodlands Hospice

Woodlands Hospice annual Light up a Life Campaign has launched, allowing supporters to dedicate a light to a loved one this Christmas and support their local hospice.

Supporters can dedicate a light in the Woodlands Hospice Light up a Life Appeal and help the hospice to continue their amazing work with patients and those closest to them.

You can dedicate a light on the hospice Christmas tree or you can leave a personalised message and photograph on the online, virtual tree. There is also an opportunity to create your own virtual tree to support the appeal, which is a great option for businesses that wish to support a charity at Christmas time. This option allows you to upload a company logo and creates a unique URL link to share amongst employees, family and friends. You can then share this and fill your supporter tree with well wishes and messages, whilst supporting Woodlands Hospice and their incredible work.

Alicja Reilly experienced this support first hand when her husband was cared for at the hospice.

Alicja said;

“Woodlands Hospice is a truly special place with incredible staff and volunteers. It is hard to put into words its importance, but I will try. My husband Chris and I, together, just made perfect sense. With the arrival of our daughter, life was perfect. Then cancer came to destroy our world. That was when Woodlands Hospice stepped in. They provided direct support to Chris but also offered support to us all.”

“Woodlands Hospice gave Chris the most important gift of all, the comfort of knowing that they would support his girls, when he no longer could. Woodlands continue to help us find our way. Ultimately it allowed Chris to let go peacefully, reassured that Lacey and I would be O.K. Something that we will be eternally thankful for.”

This year, Woodlands Hospice will be holding 3 Light up a Life services within the community to celebrate all those dedicated.

Campaign organiser and Individual Giving Manager, Carole Riley, says,

“We are delighted to be able to hold our events within the community after having to cancel all events last year. It will be wonderful to have the opportunity to get together with our supporters and celebrate their loved ones.”

The first service took place on Sunday 28th November at 4pm in St Michael’s Church, Blundellsands.

There will also be 2 evening services, one at Holy Name Church, Fazakerley at 7pm on Tuesday 7th December and a service at St Andrew’s Church, Maghull at 7pm on Thursday 9th December.
The Appeal and each service has been supported by local businesses through sponsorship, including the campaign sponsors, Peace of Mind Wills and Bell Lamb & Joynson. The services were supported by Hayes and Finch, Orrell Park Pharmacy, Christian Funeral Services and Karena Artisan Florist.

Seeing our trees adorned with hundreds of lights and knowing that each light is dedicated to someone has such a special meaning. These lights continue to shine brightly throughout the festive season in celebration of all those loved ones, including the tree at the hospice which will still shine brightly for all those gone but certainly not forgotten.
