Leading UK Law Firm Irwin Mitchell Launch New Liverpool Office

Leading UK legal and financial advisors, Irwin Mitchell are due to set up their first Liverpool City Region Office in the coming weeks.

Irwin Mitchell is a top 25 law firm with 155 offices across the country including in London, Manchester and Sheffield where it was founded by Walter Irwin Mitchell in 1912. It has worked on some of the UK’s most high profile personal injury cases.

These include, the Zeebrugge ferry disaster, the Marchioness riverboat disaster, the British Airtours Boeing 737 disaster at Manchester Airport, the Kegworth Air Crash and the Lockerbie Pan-Am flight terrorist bombing.

Also opening a new office in Cardiff, the £275m-turnover practice provides legal and financial services to both individuals and businesses. Similar to many professional firms it has adopted a flexible approach to hybrid working since the pandemic, allowing staff a degree of choice as to whether they work from home or in the office.

Its new Liverpool office, based at Horton House in Exchange Flags, will be headed up by Jonathan Betts, currently a partner in the Manchester operation. It aims to be up and running in Liverpool city centre by the middle of May.

The firm is not yet revealing staff numbers for the new base but adds it is currently recruiting people to join the Liverpool team.

Irwin Mitchell is also a member of First Law International, a global network of 85 law firms across the world, as well as several other international ‘best friend’ networks. It has a full-service offering.

Chief executive Andrew Tucker said:

“Opening in these two new locations is a natural move for us. For our existing clients and contacts in these regions we’re providing a better experience by moving even closer to them.

“It also allows us to accelerate our growth around both Liverpool and Cardiff and work with even more people and businesses in these areas.

“While our colleagues have successfully embraced our approach to hybrid or flexible working, we recognise the importance of office space, particularly in providing opportunities to meet with our clients and expand our commitment to the local community.”
