The Brain Charity is excited to announce the appointment of Professor Gus Baker as its new Chair of Trustees, effective from the fourteenth of January 2025.
Professor Baker will be taking over for our long-standing, retiring chair, Professor Bill Chambers. Professor Baker is a highly respected clinical neuropsychologist and long-time advocate for those with neurological conditions, Professor Baker brings invaluable expertise to this pivotal role.
With more than 30 years of experience in clinical practice and research, Professor Baker is a renowned figure in the field of neurology. He currently serves as Secretary General of the International Bureau for Epilepsy (IBE), the Vice President of Epilepsy Action and has held prominent leadership roles at the British Psychological Society, and other key organisations.
Professor Baker is a passionate advocate for people with neurological conditions. He has a deep understanding of the challenges they face and is committed to making a difference in their lives. Professor Baker has previously acted as an expert speaker at The Brain Charity’s Head Matters 2024 event.

Professor Gus Baker is a Chartered Clinical Neuropsychologist with a distinguished career in research and clinical practice. He is currently the Secretary General of the International Bureau for Epilepsy (IBE) and has held leadership positions in several other organisations, including the British Psychological Society and Epilepsy Action. Professor Baker has authored over 300 publications. His research has focused on the impact of neurological conditions on people’s cognitive, emotional, and social functioning.
