Everton in the Community is delighted to announce that it has partnered with The Kevin Campbell Foundation to officially launch the ‘Kevin Campbell Award’.
The Club’s official charity is ensuring the legacy of the late great Kevin Campbell lives on through this award, which will honour participants who have shown exceptional resilience, determination and leadership from EitC’s ‘Young Ambassadors’ cohort throughout the season.
The award will be presented annually to a young person from the project who the charity feel best embodies the values of the beloved Super Kev, with the programme now aptly named the Young Ambassadors programme in collaboration with The Kevin Campbell Foundation.
EitC recently hosted a stakeholder event to officially launch the award, which was attended by The Kevin Campbell Foundation Ambassador and Kevin’s good friend, Alan Myers. Alan spoke movingly to the Young Ambassadors about their relationship, Kevin’s outstanding character and the Foundation’s mission to empower young people to reach their full potential, providing them with opportunities to achieve their goals.
The Young Ambassadors are participants from across the charity’s Premier League Kicks programme, who have all been identified as positive role models. The cohort are currently working towards their Duke of Edinburgh Award and volunteer and support at EitC sessions and events for younger participants.
Additionally, all of the Young Ambassadors face systematic barriers and socio-economic challenges within their school life and home life. This project aims to help them acquire qualifications, give them access to volunteering opportunities as well as encourage them to make positive life choices.
Made possible thanks to The Kevin Campbell Foundation, this partnership will enhance EitC’s offering for the Young Ambassadors, helping to support them through providing pathway opportunities and raising their aspirations by hearing from the Foundation’s inspirational Ambassadors.
The recipient of the Kevin Campbell Award will be announced and celebrated on Saturday 5 April at Everton’s home game against Arsenal during half-time.
