Trying to manage your IT without an IT person?
For a lot of small charities and community organisations, IT support simply isn’t accessible in the way it needs to be.
It’s either too expensive, too complicated, or something that only gets attention when something goes wrong.
So what happens instead?
People do their best.
Staff and volunteers try to fix things themselves, Google becomes the IT department, and small issues end up taking far longer than they should. Over time, it becomes frustrating, time-consuming, and sometimes a bit overwhelming.
Alongside the day-to-day frustrations, there’s also a wider risk that often goes unnoticed.
Many smaller organisations aren’t aware that certain areas of IT, such as data protection, access control, and security settings, can have compliance implications if they’re not managed correctly.
It’s not through lack of care, it’s simply because these things aren’t always obvious, and without dedicated support, they can be easy to overlook.
Having the right foundations in place doesn’t just make things run more smoothly, it also helps ensure organisations are operating safely, securely, and in line with what’s expected of them.
We see this every day.
At MICT, we work closely with charities and grassroots organisations across the Liverpool City Region, and this is one of the most common challenges we come across. Not a lack of effort or care, just a lack of accessible, reliable support.
That’s why we’ve introduced a Community Support Plan.
It’s not designed to replace full IT support, and it’s not aimed at larger organisations. It’s specifically for smaller teams who just need somewhere to turn when things aren’t working as they should.
Something simple, reliable, and there when you need it.
We’ve kept it intentionally affordable. In many cases, traditional IT support can be out of reach for smaller organisations, so this has been designed to be a much more accessible option, a very small fraction of the cost of standard support packages.
It’s not 100% free, but it is designed to be manageable, predictable, and genuinely helpful.
More importantly, it’s backed by a local team who understand the sector. We’ve spent years working with charities across the region, and we know the pressures around funding, time, and capacity.
This isn’t a generic service, it’s something built around what we’ve seen first-hand.
To make sure we can support organisations properly, we are keeping this limited for now. Once we reach capacity, we’ll pause onboarding and review before opening it up again.
So if you’re a smaller organisation and you’ve ever found yourself thinking… “we’ll just try and sort it ourselves”
You’re definitely not alone.- But you don’t have to.
