Liverpool Chamber members can access an exclusive 10% entry discount
University Hospitals of Liverpool Charity has launched Bike Aintree 2026, a charity cycling event starting from the iconic Aintree Racecourse and taking in the best of the Merseyside and Lancashire countryside.
Paralympic champion Lora Fachie, and BAFTA award-winning TV presenter and actor Simon O’Brien, are encouraging cyclists of all abilities to take part.
Dubbed ‘Le Tour Merseyside’, the event on 6 September is raising funds to support patients, families and staff at the Major Trauma Centre at Aintree University Hospital which is one of the busiest in the region, caring for thousands of critically injured patients each year.
Fundraising is not essential, however all funds raised will directly support the work of the Major Trauma Centre at Aintree. Tragically trauma is the biggest killer in under 40’s, and funds will help enhance patient, family and staff spaces, and support staff wellbeing, particularly for teams responding to major incidents such as the Liverpool parade.
This is a fantastic opportunity for Chamber members to bring teams together, build connections, and take part in a high-profile local event right on our doorstep, whether for team building, networking, or corporate social responsibility.

Lora, a seven-time Paralympic medallist who is visually impaired, said:
“Nothing beats the feeling of being on a bike, plus it’s great for your physical and mental health. You get a real sense of achievement and events like Bike Aintree are a great incentive to get on two wheels and give something back. Training for a race is great in the sunshine but not so easy in poor weather but knowing you are raising money for the trauma centre is a great motivator.”
Actor and Liverpool city region cycling and walking commissioner, Simon adds:
“What an amazing experience to start a race at Aintree Racecourse. The day was brilliant, lots of fun for participants and spectators alike. We’ve already had plenty of interest so this year so it will be bigger and better celebration of community, wellbeing, and inclusive cycling.”
Simon Scott, Clinical Director at Aintree University Hospital’s Major Trauma Centre, adds:
“Liverpool looks after its own and this is another example of the power of community. The Aintree Major Trauma Centre is one of the busiest in the region, caring for thousands of people each year in the most critical circumstances. Funds raised will help enhance patient, family and staff spaces, and provide vital support for staff wellbeing, particularly for teams who continue to show incredible skill and resilience in responding to major incidents like the Liverpool parade. This support ensures we can continue delivering the highest quality care with compassion when it is needed most.”
