GRAHAM Construction has been awarded the highest recognition from IIP

Liverpool Chamber of Commerce member GRAHAM Construction has been awarded the highest level of accreditation by Investors in People (IIP), the international standard for people management. The platinum-level award puts the company in the top seven per cent of accredited organisations across the UK.

GRAHAM Construction is part of the GRAHAM Group, one of the UK and Ireland’s leading construction, asset management and project investment businesses.

The group, which operates across Merseyside and the North West, recently announced a turnover increase to £565m in its 2016-17 results.

Paul Devoy, head of IIP, said: “Investors in People accreditation is the sign of a great employer, an outperforming place to work and a clear commitment to success. GRAHAM Construction should be extremely proud of its achievement.”

Gary Hughes, North of England regional director for the GRAHAM building division, said: “Our people are the foundation of everything that we do and the key to our continued success, so attaining the Investors in People platinum standard is a proud moment for the organisation.

“We strive to create working environments that allow and encourage all employees to pursue their personal and career goals.”

GRAHAM Construction has seen significant success in the North of England in 2017.

The company's building division is currently on-site delivering several high-profile PRS residential projects in Manchester, and has also recently celebrated the delivery of Liverpool FC’s new flagship retail store at Anfield and the innovative Chester Bus Interchange.

The GRAHAM Construction civil engineering division designed and constructed the Gladstone Biomass Terminal at the Port of Liverpool for Peel Ports Group, the first facility of its kind on the west coast of England. The terminal won Large Project of the Year at the annual Institute of Civil Engineering (ICE) North West regional awards in 2017. The team is also currently on-site as the principal contractor on the replacement of the A565 Great Howard Street Bridge in Liverpool.

The GRAHAM interior fit-out division has also increased its presence in the North with the opening of a new office in Leeds’ Carrwood Park, and in August completed a comprehensive fit-out of Liverpool FC’s new retail store.

GRAHAM Construction is a member of the 5% Club, made up of companies committed to ensuring at least 5% of their workforce over the next five years is comprised of young people on structured learning schemes.

However, GRAHAM goes far beyond this commitment - with 14% of the current workforce in these schemes, a figure that will rise to 15% by the end of the year. Of this, 9% are apprentices.

The company has also established the GRAHAM Academy to tackle the looming skills shortage in the industry. This is an entry level programme for young people to pursue a career in construction. Over 100 young people have already enrolled in the Academy, which offers nationally-recognised qualifications alongside paid work experience and permanent employment.
