Breathtaking space to be unveiled in historic building

National Museums Liverpool is set to launch a brand new events space at one of its flagship venues in the city.
With a capacity for events of more than 300 people, World Museum – the organisation’s oldest museum, situated in Liverpool’s beautiful neoclassical cultural quarter – will open its new events space in November.

With integrated technology and facilities, the space will make a feature of the original architecture of the grand examination hall, once part of the Technical School of Liverpool, which opened in 1901. Guests will be able to enjoy exquisite events in the shadow of the intricate, historic painted plasterworks which adorn the walls and ceilings, depicting messages meant to inspire the students who studied in the building prior to it becoming part of the Museum.

With a capacity of 150 for dinner, and 200 for a drinks reception, the space can also be opened up to include an area of the Museum previously unseen by the public, along with the venue’s stunning Atrium, to extend numbers beyond 300 guests.

Head of Events for National Museums Liverpool, Katie Roberts, said:

“This historic space is now being used during the day as a brand new café, so we have already seen what a fantastic impact it has had on visitors”

“We have an opportunity to bring some really special events to the city. World Museum is just a few minutes walk from Lime Street Station, and easily accessible from the rest of the UK. The new events space really is stunning – we’re excited to launch it as it’s a refreshing alternative to traditional conference spaces, and the perfect backdrop to inspire and impress clients and guests”

With its own private entrance, away from the public entrance to the Museum, the multi-purpose space has been redeveloped with events in mind, and can be utilised by connecting three different areas of the Museum’s ground floor. The space has free Wi-Fi, and adaptable up-lighting, which can be controlled remotely to change colour depending on the type of event, adding further grandeur to the already breathtaking space.

The launch event, taking place in early November, is inspired by the novel Around the World in Eighty Days and will see guests enjoying canapés from different continents, live entertainment and drinks. ‘Travel excursions’ around the Museum will also be available throughout the night, allowing guests to explore the likes of Ancient Egypt and outer space on small, private tours.
