The first of the new state-of-the-art trains for the Merseyrail network has travelled from manufacturer Stadler’s factory in Switzerland, across Germany and France, and is making its way to the City Region as we speak.

Once here, it will begin months of testing both in Kirkdale depot and out on the Merseyrail network so you may spot the train and its distinctive black and yellow livery.

The trains include a range of cutting edge features including free wi-fi, space for up to 50% more passengers and sliding step technology which will allow unassisted access for wheelchair users and those with bikes or buggies.
