CGI partners with Better Meds ePMS

CGI partners with Better Meds ePMS for e-prescribing implementation for North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust

The North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (NCIC) has appointed CGI, alongside Better, to implement an ePMA (e-Prescribing and Allergy Monitoring) solution across their acute and community hospitals.

The solution will allow the trust to take another step to achieve their ambition of moving away from paper-based systems, which is not only intended to improve the level of service to more than half a million people but will also make strides towards a greener and more environmentally friendly approach to the issuing of prescriptions. As well as efficiency, the system will also provide increased safety, thanks to more effective tracking of medication and related allergies.

The Better Meds solution is built on an openEHR platform which will allow for integration between existing and future systems, supporting the trust on its digital transformation journey. The new system will be piloted at a single site ward initially, testing and amending medication configuration before a full rollout across 2 acute hospital sites and county-wide community hospital wards.

Better and CGI were awarded the contract to deliver the Better Meds solution and Better Allergies Portal following a successful open procurement process alongside many other NHS acute and mental health trusts.

Donna Kelly, Senior Vice President for South and Midlands at CGI in the UK, said:

“We are delighted to be working with NCIC on the implementation of their ePMA solution, helping them share data more effectively and improve patient care across its hospitals. We are proud to be part of NCIC’s digital transformation journey and look forward to working with them closely on this step towards digital health services.”
