Merseyside’s newest, most innovative visitor attraction has made its first senior hire ahead of its opening date later this year.

Eureka! Scienced + Discovery, set to open to the public this Autumn has appointed Andy Grimshaw as its new Operations Director.

Andy, who has 20 years of experience working in operations in retail and hospitality, joins the charity from the Liverpool Guild of Students, where he has been Director of Operations since 2013.

Speaking of his new role, Andy said:

“I’m delighted to be part of the Eureka! team and to support them creating something that will help inspire many thousands of children and families every year. Eureka! Science + Discovery has been eight years in the making and will be a transformative addition to Merseyside’s leisure and tourism offer.

“We have lots to prepare for before opening our doors to the public, and we’re working hard to ensure it’s a world-class attraction, bringing people from across the UK.”

Andy is the first of many new hires for the attraction, with David Parsley joining as Facilities Manager in the coming weeks. Interviews are currently underway for a Head of Visitor Experience.

The attraction, which is dedicated to engaging with and inspiring young people aged 6-14 from across the Northwest and beyond to explore STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering Arts and Mathematics) subjects in new and exciting ways, will be the first of its kind on Merseyside.

Leigh-Anne Stradeski, Eureka!’s CEO, added:

“It’s so exciting to be at a point where we can appoint some of the people who will help make our ambitions for Eureka! Science + Discovery a reality.

“We’re delighted to have Andy join us and have already made fantastic progress with his support. We’re still recruiting for several exciting roles in the coming weeks and are looking forward to welcoming some new faces to team Eureka! here in Merseyside.”
