CHILDREN’S social worker? Want to find out why Liverpool is the best place to work in the UK? Want to secure a great new job without leaving your home?

Then join us next week for our very first virtual recruitment event!

Taking place on Thursday, 10 November from 6-7pm, the Teams event will feature senior managers who will set out Liverpool’s offer as a great place for children’s social work practice as well as answer questions on the pioneering family safeguarding model which is coming to the city.

Attendees will be able to hear from the council’s Director of Children and Young People’s Services Steve Reddy, members of Liverpool’s social work team and from learning and development colleagues who will share details of Liverpool’s commitment to continuing professional development.

There will also be an opportunity to ask the team questions and to register an interest for an online interview within the following week.

Liverpool has started its journey to embed the Family Safeguarding Model. Training has already begun with current staff and will go live next summer. Liverpool City Council is the seventeenth local authority to adopt the model nationally and the first Core City and first council in Cheshire and Merseyside to do so.

The virtual recruitment event is free, but a place must be booked in advance though the Eventbrite link below.

Cllr Frazer Lake, Cabinet member for Adults’ and Children’s Social Care, said:

“We are heading into an exciting time for children’s social work in Liverpool. Moving towards the Family Safeguarding Model is a really important step for the city and one that we know will support families in the best way possible.

“Engaged and dedicated social workers are the key to the success of the model. We have a great team here in Liverpool and we want to build on that and that’s why we are holding our very first virtual event. It’s a great way of reaching out further and giving as many people as possible the opportunity to hear why Liverpool is the best place in the UK to work.

“Come and join us on the 10 November, it could transform your life as well as those of the families you work with.”

Areta Kalungi, children’s social worker, said:

“The team in Liverpool has been really welcoming and during my time on my placement they’ve made the transition into the social work job really smooth.

“I just love everyone who works in Liverpool. They’ve been really supportive on my journey so far.”
