University of Liverpool is looking to appoint three lay members of Council and two co-opted members to subcommittees

The University is now looking to appoint three lay members of Council and two co-opted members to subcommittees (audit and remuneration committee) who will bring a breadth of experience at a senior level, alongside knowledge of complex governance from the public, private or third sectors.

Based on an assessment of current and future skills needs, the University would benefit from knowledge and experience of audit/risk, research, ethics, innovation and enterprise, and industry/business. Experience of operating at a senior level within a large and ideally international corporate setting will be advantageous in two of the vacancies. An interest in the Higher Education and the University of Liverpool is critical to all appointments, as is a commitment to the values, aims and objectives of the University.

The University recognises the benefit of a diverse Council which represents our student body and the global community we serve. We would welcome applications from candidates from backgrounds which are currently underrepresented. Council members will provide advice, support and expertise to ensure that the University’s activities and management are both effective and efficient, establishing constructive, supportive and appropriately challenging working relationships with senior staff across the institution. We are seeking candidates who will be vocal and visible advocates of the University as well as providing challenge and insights.

Council meets six times per year and members are expected to join other committees and undertake other duties. Although these positions are not remunerated reasonable expenses will be paid.

This is a three year appointment (which can be renewed) and a full induction programme will be provided.

More information and to apply can be found here.
