Hugh Baird College merged with South Sefton College in 2017, at which point it became the South Sefton Campus of Hugh Baird College, since this time it has gone from strength to strength.
At the campus, students aged 16-19 can study a wide range of A-levels and Level 3 BTEC courses (which you can read more about online at: www.hughbaird.ac.uk/a-levels). Students study in a sixth form centre environment, where their academic ambitions are supported, alongside opportunities to take part in an exciting enrichment programme.
Since 2017 the South Sefton Campus has gone on an impressive journey, and student numbers have grown considerably. As a part of the next step in this journey, and to help reflect the student experience, from the 1 August 2023 the Sixth Form will be rebranded to Sefton Sixth Form College.
Rachael Hennigan, Principal and Chief Executive of Hugh Baird College commented that,
“We are proud of our record of supporting students to progress, and when they enrol at our Sixth Form they are joining a centre with the resources and support to help them achieve success in their next steps; whether that be going to university, securing an apprenticeship, or straight into employment. We hope this change in name allows prospective students and their families to easily recognise the offering at the College, and the courses available.”
Joe Poole, Assistant Principal of the Sixth Form said,
“Becoming Sefton Sixth Form College helps our community better understand who we are and what we do. We operate as a Sixth Form College, with academic excellence is at the heart of everything we do. Students who join us are supported to achieve high grades, develop as people and progress to university, apprenticeship or employment. Young people in this area do not need to travel out of the borough to access high quality Sixth Form provision, it is on their doorstep.”
The centre remains a part of Hugh Baird College, and so students will still have access to the same fantastic learner support, facilities, and teaching staff that the College is renowned for. The leadership at the College will also remain the same.
