Set out your stall at St George’s Hall!

Liverpool City Council is set to host a new market next month in one of the city’s most iconic locations – and is now looking for traders to get involved.

St George’s Hall will be the home of the market which will be held for the first time on Sunday 16 June and traders are now invited to apply to be part of the inaugural event.

Stalls will be situated both inside and outside the Hall with the council’s markets team looking for craft and artisanal traders selling items such as clothing, accessories, jewellery, or food and drink, with traders selling hot food also welcome on the outside stalls only.

There will be room for about 70 tables inside the building and approximately 20 stalls outside for food vendors which will be situated on the Lime Street corner of the plateau.

Charges for stalls are:

• Indoor – £60 + VAT
• Outdoor – £70 + VAT
• Outdoor stalls selling hot food – £80 + VAT

Applications are now open. Traders should email liverpoolmarkets@liverpool.gov.uk with their contact details and information on what they would like to sell.

The deadline for applications is Friday, 31 May.

Going forward it is planned that the St George’s Hall Market will be held four times a year on a seasonal basis.

The market, which will be free to the public, will be open from 10.30am-4.40pm.

Liverpool is home to a well-established markets offer, from the weekly Great Homer Street Market to a regular programme of farmers’ and craft markets.

Cllr Harry Doyle, Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Culture, said: “We’re delighted that this summer we will be trialling a new market in Liverpool’s cultural quarter in such a well-loved and iconic building as St George’s Hall.

“The outside of the Hall and St John’s Gardens have been a great venue for the Christmas markets for the past few years and now we’re looking forward to using both the inside and the outside at a different point in the calendar. We’re confident that traders will get a real boost from having it as a backdrop to their businesses.

“So if you’re a trader please apply and help us make this first event a success!”
