Local Nature Recovery Strategy

Liverpool City Region Combined Authority has developed a Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) for the Liverpool City Region.

Local nature recovery strategies are ambitious, England-wide spatial strategies, designed to support the restoration and enhancement of nature. The strategy outlines our most valuable existing habitats and presents priorities for reversing the decline in biodiversity. It also maps potential opportunities for nature recovery and wider environmental goals in the places where they could have the biggest impact. However, it does not mean that this land will be protected or prevent other forms of land use.

The UK has lost nearly 50% of its biodiversity, placing it in the top 10% most nature depleted countries in the world. Nature provides a range of benefits to the people of our region. Nature-based solutions can improve our air and water quality, help us to achieve Net Zero, build resilience to climate change and provide access to thriving green spaces.

We have reached a crucial stage in the development of the Local Nature Recovery Strategy, and are reaching out to as many residents, businesses and communities to give them the opportunity to have their say and help influence and shape potential nature improvements in the Liverpool City Region.

Citizens can either complete the online survey here or attend our final in-person event at Huyton Village Green, Unit 1 Cavendish Walk, Huyton, L36 9YG, Thursday 27th March, 12-4pm.

The public consultation runs until 11.59pm Sunday 6th April 2025 and we’d appreciate if you could please share our survey and details of our Knowsley event with your contacts and networks on our behalf.
