Goodison Park Hosts EitC And Everton Women For Showcase Spectacle

Everton Women’s senior team took part in their first Everton in the Community showcase at Goodison Park this week ahead of their historic first season at the Grand Old Lady.

Everton Women’s newly appointed CEO, Hannah Forshaw, joined the charity’s CEO Sue Gregory to watch the action unfold on the pitch just days before the squad’s game against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

The afternoon saw players from Everton Women’s first-team squad get hands-on with the charity’s programmes, meeting participants whose lives have been transformed by EitC’s work.

The move to the Grand Old Lady marks a key milestone in EitC’s Women and Girls strategy objective, part of the charity’s wider ‘Together, We Can’ campaign, which aims to tackle health and child inequalities and create more opportunities for women and girls across Merseyside and beyond.

First up, Rion Ishikawa, Yuka Momiki, Martina Fernández, Rosa van Gool and Ornella Vignola joined young girls from our Premier League Kicks and Interventions programmes for a number of activities including a martial arts session, designed to test focus, coordination and teamwork.

Delivered in partnership with the Premier League, EitC’s Premier League Kicks programme works with young people across the Liverpool City Region, whilst EitC’s interventions initiatives is funded by Merseyside Police to offer tailored support and one-to-one guidance to young people who struggle in mainstream education.

Meanwhile, EitC entertained participants with SEND needs from its ‘Safe Hands’, and Premier League Inspires programmes alongside Aurora Galli, Megan Finnigan, Hikaru Kitagawa and Lucy Hope for an afternoon of team-building challenges.

Together with young people from our SEND provision, Aurora Galli, Megan Finnigan, Hikaru Kitagawa and Lucy Hope joined Safe Hands and Premier League Inspires participants for an afternoon of team-building challenges whilst Kelly Gago, Honoka Hayashi, Mayumi “Maz” Pacheco and Kenzie Weir met EitC’s Women’s Walking Football group for an all-female football session.

Elsewhere, Clare Wheeler, Karen Holmgaard, Hayley Ladd and Ruby Mace joined our Female Football Development programme for an insight into the world of amputee football before meeting two women’s players from its amputee team, which is supported by Spirit Foundation.

Katie Robinson, Elise Stenevik, Emily Ramsey and Ellie Jones joined primary school pupils from our Tackling the Blues and Premier League Primary Stars programmes to try their hand at Quidditch, finishing with a lively game of tag to catch the ‘golden snitch’.

And finally, Courtney Brosnan and Katja Snoeijs re-united with participants from Team England at this year’s Street Child World Cup in Mexico with the pair acting as ambassadors for the team through support from the Premier League and PFA.

Also delivered in partnership with the PLPFA is EitC’s Tackling the Blues and Safe Hands programmes which provide vital support for people of all ages across the community.

Through more than 60 programmes and initiatives, EitC continues to tackle some of the most pressing challenges facing the Liverpool City Region.
