The Brain Charity has launched a new specialist neuro-psychotherapy counselling service for businesses, insurers, legal professionals and caseworkers supporting people living with neurological conditions.
The service enables organisations to purchase individual or block counselling sessions delivered by qualified, BACP-registered psychotherapists with specialist expertise in neurological conditions and neurodiversity.
It is designed for use within corporate wellbeing, insurance and legal referrals, occupational health services, employee assistance programmes, and couples and relationship work.
With more than 600 neurological conditions, many people struggle to access therapy that truly understands their lived experience. In standard counselling settings, clients often must repeatedly explain their diagnosis and symptoms – a tiring process that can slow progress and leave people feeling misunderstood.
The Brain Charity’s service removes this barrier. All therapists are neuro-specialists with extensive professional – and, in many cases, lived experience of neurological conditions. Clients are understood without having to explain or educate their therapist, helping them feel safe, heard and supported, and enabling therapy to be effective from the start.
Sessions are available in person at The Brain Charity’s accessible centre in Liverpool, online via secure video, or by phone. Support is available for individuals, couples, and families aged 18 and over. Sessions cost £90, with flexible booking options available for individuals, teams or communities.
The service also delivers significant social impact. For every 12 sessions purchased, six free sessions are funded for someone who would otherwise be unable to access specialist support, extending care to people affected by neurological conditions across the UK.
“This service is about more than therapy,” said Sharon Berry, Counselling Services Manager and Lead Psychotherapist.
“It’s about fundamental understanding. When clients work with therapists who truly understand their experiences, they can focus on processing rather than explaining those experiences. At the same time, organisations are helping us reach people most at risk of being left without support.”
