The Brain Charity responds to soaring unemployment and underemployment among neurodivergent adults with a new workplace training offer

In response to growing concern over the exclusion of neurodivergent people from the workforce, The Brain Charity has launched a new online training course to help organisations become more inclusive, supportive, and accessible to employees who think differently.

The Neurodiversity Awareness in the Workplace E-Learning module is the next evolution of The Brain Charity’s Neurodiversity Training. A 90-minute, self-paced training course designed for HR professionals, teams, managers, recruiters and inclusion leads. It offers practical, evidence-based guidance on how to support neurodivergent colleagues and create truly inclusive working environments.

Urgent Need for Change
According to the UK Office for National Statistics (ONS), just 29% of autistic adults are in employment — the lowest employment rate of any disability group. At the same time, employers across the UK are reporting record skills shortages. The solution is clear: we must address the stigma and systemic barriers keeping neurodivergent people out of work.

Recent campaigns, including #NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek and calls from MPs and charities to reform workplace practices, have put neuroinclusion on the national agenda. Yet many organisations still lack the knowledge and tools to make meaningful change.

“We know that many businesses want to do better but don’t know where to start,” said Jane Cullen, Training Manager at The Brain Charity. “This course is a real-world, accessible starting point, developed by people with lived experience. It doesn’t just raise awareness — it offers practical actions and legal guidance.”

Course Features
Co-produced with neurodivergent people, the e-learning course includes:

  • An introduction to neurodiversity and how it manifests in the workplace
  • Exploration of the strengths and challenges experienced by neurodivergent individuals
  • Tools to implement reasonable adjustments, reduce bias, and meet Equality Act obligations
  • Scenario-based learning, video content, and real-life case studies

Learners receive a certificate upon completion, and the module is designed to work seamlessly across desktop and mobile devices.

Accessible, Affordable, and Scalable
The e-learning is priced at £28 per user for three months of access. Discounted rates are available for teams, larger organisations, and charities. Bespoke adaptations and in-person training options are also available from The Brain Charity’s expert training team.

“For many neurodivergent people, it’s not the work that’s the problem — it’s the barriers to entering the workplace and sustaining that work once there,” added Cullen. “We’re here to help employers change that.”
