The Liverpool City Region has a host of programmes available to assist you in your recruitment process

LCR Combined Authority

Skills Bootcamps

Provides flexible, hands-on courses lasting up to 16 weeks – part of Government’s Levelling Up agenda and Lifetime Skills Guarantee.

Can be used by individuals over 19 and by employers seeking to encourage staff to learn new skills. Funded by the Department for Education and developed locally by the LCRCA, working closely with local employers.

Households into Work

The programme provides up to 12 months of support to unemployed Liverpool City Region residents aged 16 and over who cannot consider taking up or sustaining employment.

The team of 25 employment advocates provide 1-2-1 bespoke support to resolve barriers to employment and develop skills and resilience.

Funding is also available to help clients overcome obstacles to accessing or sustaining employment.

Be More Apprenticeship Portal

The Apprenticeship portal for Halton, Knowsley, St Helens, Sefton, Liverpool and Wirral

Advertises 100’s of live apprenticeship vacancies from across the Liverpool City Region for people to apply. Visitors to the site can also access guidance on apprenticeships, interview techniques and discounts for apprentices.

This project is funded by the European Social Fund and the Strategic Investment Fund.

Liverpool City Council

Liverpool Ways to Work

Offers free tailored help to local residents aged 16 to 70+ who are struggling to secure long-term employment

The team work with businesses by helping them recruit staff who have been through the Liverpool Ways to Work programme and are ready for employment.

Additional support is available with training on CV Writing, Job-Searching effectively, completing application forms, interview preparedness and staying safe online.

Supported Internships

Work-based study programmes for 16-24 year olds with SEND and an Educational Health Care Plan. Interns enrol full-time at a local school/college, in which they’ll study a personalised programme as well as attend a 6-12 month work placement.

Only 4.5% of people in the NW with learning disabilities/autism are in paid employment – Liverpool City Council is committed to ensuring this changes.

Growth Platform

The Careers Hub based in Liverpool’s Growth Platform has a number of resources for business and schools to get involved with skills activity and access support:

Enterprise Advisor

Employers can partner with secondary schools across the City Region to use their skills and experience to help schools develop careers programme and curriculum that supports all students.

Give an Hour

The Careers Hub is looking for employers to devote an hour of their time to deliver careers activity within a school or college. This could be delivered through CV workshops, mock interviews or guest speaker slots on their business, sector and journey.

Resources for Schools

Schools and Colleges can access resources designed to ensure their careers offering is providing students with the most valuable outcomes. There is also guidance for careers leads which includes free resources for use within institutions.

Sefton Council

Community Learning

Sefton Council have developed a community learning platform which provides residents with access to over 100 courses each year, in a number of different areas including English, Maths, Computing and more.

Many of the courses are free, however a number of courses are priced at £37.50. The charge does not apply if applicants are in receipt of certain benefits.
