Creating a Circular Economy – why does it matter for business?

Could a circular economy benefit your business?

As our global economy continues to grow, the challenges of meeting an increasing demand for products and services will be unparalleled. Today's linear ‘take, make, dispose’ economic model relies on large quantities of cheap, easily accessible materials and energy, and is a model that is reaching its physical limits. A circular economy is an attractive and viable alternative that businesses have already started exploring, providing a business opportunity to successfully tackle environmental priorities, drive performance, innovation and competitiveness, and stimulate economic growth and development, which in turn can create positive environmental impacts, real cost savings and greater profits for business.

The next Green Lunch will take place on Tuesday 6 September at Liverpool & Sefton Chambers of Commerce, and we will be looking at various aspects of the Circular Economy. We are delighted that Carl Beer, Chief Executive of Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority, will be joining us to talk about the general principles and what it means for business, together with Shaun Doran, Chief Executive of the FRC Group.

A sandwich lunch will be served from 12.00 noon with the presentations and discussion starting at 12.30pm.

To secure your place for this event, simply book online, email: or call us on 0151 227 1234.

The Merseyside Environmental Trust have kindly agreed to sponsor the lunch. The Trust, founded in 1984, raises awareness of environmental issues through promoting open discussion of global and local concerns, stimulating scientific enquiry and debate through their unique position as a politically neutral charitable body. They also provide a programme of small grants to local organisations carrying out practical work on Merseyside environment, and act as a signposting body for environmental events and activities in the region.
