Merseytravel ensures the availability of public transport in Merseyside including financial support for the rail network and essential bus services not provided by the private sector. It also promotes public transport, provides bus/rail stations and infrastructure, travel tickets and concessionary travel. Merseytravel also owns and operates the Mersey Ferries and the two Mersey Tunnels.
