Homelessness is a real and growing social issue on the streets of Liverpool. People sleeping rough in England has more than doubled in recent years, so we’re raising funds to help those who need our support.

On Friday 4 March 2022, Nugent will be asking supporters to give up their bed for the night to experience just a fraction of the challenges of what it is like to be homeless.

Nugent is working in collaboration with headline sponsor Krol Corlett Construction and our supporters Salvation Army who will also be raising funds for the event’s venue Strawberry Field. Based in Woolton, the iconic site is where John Lennon used to play as a child. Today, it provides sustainable employment opportunities for young people with learning difficulties. For nearly 70 years, it gave some of Liverpool’s most vulnerable children a refuge from turmoil and unhappiness – a safe, calm and spiritual home.

By taking part in Sleep Out with Nugent, you will help to raise money for their New Beginnings service, a partnership with Liverpool Mutual Homes which aims to provide good quality temporary accommodation for individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and have support needs.

The funds raised will provide support packages for those who have been suffering from homelessness when transitioning into their accommodation. It will provide the basic essentials such as pots, pans and towels, items which we often take for granted.
To help raise money for Nugent, you can set up a free fundraising page with Local Giving where you can keep track of your donations, have your own fundraising link and thank your supporters.

Nugent are asking communities, businesses and individuals to get involved and raise much needed funds for vulnerable people. Nugent have a New Beginnings Scheme which houses people suffering from homelessness, although they can provide the accommodation, they arrive with absolutely nothing. The funds raised will be used to purchase basic essentials which we often take for granted – pots, pans, towels, bed sheets, etc.

“Although we will be spending 12 hours in the bitter cold – we will be keeping you entertained by hosting a ‘best shelter’ competition made out of cardboard, prizes for the best fundraiser and also a lucky dip winner. There will also be an indoor area for refreshments throughout the night.”

“We hope that together we can raise awareness – it’s everyone’s responsibility in this world to help fight homelessness. No one should be homeless and no one should be hungry in 2022, but people like you can really help us make a difference, because together #WeAreNugent.”
